Practical Advice

Carpets

A rug is a point of reference in your space. It’s most basic role is to turn your familial environment warm and welcoming, especially if it is a quality rug that responds to your own style and needs. Color, design and texture of a carpet are only some of the parameters that will lead you to make an informed choice that suits you and that will lend a sense of comfort and personality to your space.

Consider then, if you prefer a rug that with a strong presence with vivid colors and motifs or a more neutral, subtle design that will grant a sense of calmness. Size is also a challenge in making the correct choice. If you want to separate an open space, multiple smaller carpets might work well, instead of a larger one.

Tip: Always remember that a small rug might be “lost” in a large room.

If your site is large and you want its integration, a larger rug can manage nicely. It will provide a rich sense of continuity and calm in your environment.

Tip: A large rug should not cover the entire floor, so the above solution is recommended for very large rooms. You should also leave sufficient space around furniture that will be placed on the carpet, so that they do not seem to “suffocate” the room.

An ideal solution would be to place your rug under a table, in front of a three-seat couch, two seat couch and chairs. In this case the rug should be slightly longer and wider than the space occupied by furniture – and it should be placed just a few centimeters from the couch.

In the dining room, a large rug may give color and enrichment. Ideally, the rug should be at a ratio well above the table, so that when the chairs are pulled, their rear legs do not protrude. For this to happen, the minimum distance should be 75 cm. In conclusion, the ideal carpet size for your dining area should be 1.5 meters longer than the table in all directions.

Tip: Remember that the center of the carpet will be covered by the dining table and the chairs, so it is best to choose a carpet that has the bulk of its art design in the side.

For the bedroom, you may place your rug under the bed. It is best if the carpet is placed around the bedsides and not beneath them. In this way, you will feel the rug “hugging” you when you get out of bed. Alternatively, you might choose to get a bedroom set, placing two smaller rugs on either side of the bed and a larger one on its bottom. With the above solution, you give a rich feeling to the room, while gaining greater practical value.

Linen

There may be exaggeration, but it is good to change our bed sheets and duvet cases every week. They come in direct contact with our body and face, so it is good to always be clear. If we can establish the bedroom as a room where we do not go with shoes and the bed as a place where we do not lie down with our clothes then we can change bed sheets and duvets every fifteen days. The duvet, if it is covered with a duvet case and therefore does not lean on the body or fill up dust, we can wash it at the end of winter before storing it in its special airtight bag. If we stay in a place with fresh air, when we change sheets we can air it for a while on the balcony.

We also have to change the towels quite often. Towels in the bathroom collect dust, moisture and dead cells, so they need regular washing every week. Otherwise, it does not make any sense to clean our bodies, hands or even worse our face on a surface that is not clean. During the days we use these towels it is very important to put them somewhere that can dry well in order to eliminate moisture.

Hygiene is also posed with blankets, especially if they are woolen, so they collect a lot of dust on their fibers. If we touch them directly on our body, then we have to wash them in the washing machine every week or fifteen days. If, however, we use them like most people as throws on the couch or as sofa blankets over our clothes for the cold afternoons in front of the TV, then we can wash them every two months. However, both throws and blankets need to be shuffled regularly, and it is advisable to prefer fabrics that do not hold dust with static electricity.

Illumination

Providing the room with light is one of the most important things to care for. Illumination can fill your home or office with the preferable mood you desire. However, each space must be illuminated according to the activities carried out on it.

Hall:

This room is one that welcomes you and your visitors to home or office, so make sure you choose the right kind of illuminations that give you a friendly sensation of warmth.

Living room:

The room where you spend many hours of day doing various activities, such as reading books, relaxing on the couch, watching TV, welcoming guests, etc., there must be several sources of light. Very much attention should be paid to basic lighting, that is to say the ceiling lamp, not only for practical but also for decorative purposes. Choose stunning ceiling lights as there are no other decorative elements in it. The general illumination should be smooth, with white light, while a dimmer would be ideal to adjust the intensity of light according to your wishes. Then place hidden light fixtures around the roof to help you relax. Finally, it is very important to make available to your site individual sources of light that you will use in specific activities. For example, a good choice would be a table or floor lamp with strong light next to the armchair, reading your favorite book, so your eyes do not get tired.

Bedroom:

The ceiling lamp is not of great importance, as you can place your light fixtures on your bedside tables. on the contrary, It’s a good idea to illuminate the room with a stylish table lamp with warm light, so that you don’t get tired of the ceiling light fixture. Also, it is very important to have bright and cool light in the mirror and in the wardrobe. Place hidden light fixtures in order to give a sense of luxury to your room.

Kitchen and bathroom:

These spaces need light in specific places. You can install a general illumination, but you need to illuminate with additional light sources on the kitchen counter and the bathroom mirror. Make sure that the spot where the luminaires are installed is ideal to avoid creating disturbing shadows that will impede your activities.

Dinning room:

Dinner time is the time of day that you seek relaxation and tranquility to enjoy your favorite meal. This will be ensured by gentle illumination with warm tones. The overall result can take off the candles you put on the table giving you a romantic and mystical atmosphere.

Office:

The workplace must be enlightened as you spend many hours of the day making an effort to create. In the office, therefore, you need to install a beautiful ceiling lamp and necessarily a table lamp. Select a cool-light luminaire and tilt for the office surface to give light exactly where you want it to. Finally, a floor lamp in a corner of the room will create a warm and beautiful atmosphere.

Exterior:

Outdoors particular attention should be paid to the light-tightness of the luminaire so that it can cope with weather conditions. Select lights with a high seal, especially if they are wet or affected by moisture. Finally, choose UV-protected fixtures to keep their color unchanged from the sun. As for the style of the lamp, this is judged by your own taste. However you either prefer the modern style, the classic, or you like the minimal design, or the most eccentric, surely in the rich and renewed collection of designdrops you will find exactly what you want.

Furniture

Furniture is what will capture your personal taste in your home or business. The furniture you choose should offer you ergonomics and make your mood at first glance.

Choose not only modern, but also timeless style as their cost is large enough and you can not refresh them often. Be sure to provide ergonomics to your room by placing furniture with storage areas or the possibility of lengthening and shrinking.

The area that you need to be done is the living room as we spend many hours of the day and welcome our guests. Choose spacious sofas and a lounge table at the height of the seats to make it more practical. Do not forget to place stools and zigons in a corner to serve you when you have a lot of visitors. Finally, an armchair next to the fireplace or the window will create a warm and relaxing atmosphere.

In the bedroom you must ensure maximum rest. This will be achieved with a spacious bed that will match to your preferences ( hard, soft, etc.). Place a bedside table next to bed for decorative and utilizable purposes, and it would be a significant omission to not have a beard with a large mirror to be embellished.

In general, you should choose furniture for all your home or business premises depending on the floor area. In a spacious room place large furniture that will create an imposing atmosphere and fill the space. By choosing small furniture in a large space, you will have a poor result and the space will seem empty. Instead, in small spaces you should prefer small and usable furniture in order not to create a tiring and suffocating effect.
