Quilts Cleaning Guide

Instructions for Cleaning and Properly Washing Quilts/Bedspreads

Step 1: Read the Care Instructions

Before beginning the washing process, carefully read the care instructions provided by the quilt/bedspread manufacturer. If there are specific cleaning instructions, follow them exactly to avoid causing damage to its composition.

Step 2: Check for Stains and Loose Threads

Perform a quick check for stains on your quilt/bedspread and, if you encounter any, try to remove it individually using detergent. Treat stains as soon as possible. Use a mild cleaner and a soft towel to gently remove the stain. Additionally, you should look for and repair any tears or loose threads that might get caught in the washing machine drum and destroy the quilt/bedspread.

Step 3: Washing Machine Preparation

Select a cold or lukewarm water wash cycle on your washing machine, depending on the care instructions from the quilt/bedspread manufacturer. Choosing cold water will protect against shrinkage and discoloration. Prefer cold water to prevent shrinkage and maintain colors. Add the appropriate detergent to the washing machine drum, according to the manufacturer's instructions, and do not exceed the recommended amount. The use of mild detergents is suggested, which will not harm the fabric or the filling of the quilt/bedspread.

Step 4: Loading the Quilts/Bedspreads into the Washing Machine

Place the quilt/bedspread into the washing machine drum. If you want to wash more than one quilt/bedspread, wash them separately so there is room for them to be washed effectively.

Step 5: Drying

Once the wash cycle is complete, check the quilt/bedspread to ensure there are no stains or other issues. Then, remove the quilt/bedspread from the washing machine and let it air dry naturally. Avoid using a dryer unless the care instructions permit it.

Step 6: Storage

If you do not immediately make the bed with the quilt/bedspread and want to store it, you should do so correctly to prevent it from acquiring moisture and bad odors. Use specialized nylon bags that remove air, keeping the quilts/bedspreads, duvets and other linens fresh and clean. Also, this way you will save space in your wardrobe/closet. If you don't have such bags, you can use an old sheet to wrap your quilt/bedspread.

Useful Tips for Quilt/Bedspread Care:

You don't need to wash the quilt/bedspread often:

It is not necessary to constantly wash the quilt/bedspread especially if you use a duvet cover, which you should wash approximately every 15 days. For the quilt/bedspread, 3 to 4 times a year is enough.

Daily Care:

Air out the quilt/bedspread and leave the bed unmade to air out as well. Let the quilt/bedspread air out in the sun, so the sun can remove moisture and kill germs. It is also good to shake it gently to keep it fluffy and remove dust and small debris.

Tennis Balls:

Tennis balls keep the quilt/bedspread fluffy! Place 2-3 tennis balls in the washing machine or dryer drum, and they will beat the filling and keep it fluffy.

By following these instructions, you will keep your quilts/bedspreads clean, soft, and fresh. Proper care is crucial for maintaining the hygiene, aesthetics, and durability of the quilts/bedspreads. Dedicate a little time and then enjoy a comfortable, hygienic, and high-quality sleep!
